dyslexia a 2 z - tests / assessments
The most comprehensive educational assessment is by an independent Educational Psychologist. The psychologists we use are experts on Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and other Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs).
Assessments for Dyslexia and Dyscalculia will show underlying cognitive strengths and weaknesses. The reports will ascertain what the student’s current level of ability is and can be used to plan an individual programme of work. Dyslexia and Dyscalculia assessments follow the most up-to-date professional guidelines, and take account of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-1V).
When You Come For Your Appointment
When you come for your assessment you will have an initial discussion with the psychologist about your particular problems. This will enable the psychologist to ensure the most appropriate tests are carried out.
There will be a short break when appropriate for refreshments.
At the end of the assessment there will be time to discuss the results in depth and to give you feedback regarding the results. The psychologist will want to make sure you fully understand the outcome of the tests and ensure you are aware of the options open to you.
Please allow three to four hours for your appointment.
Report
The results of your Dyslexia and Dyscalculia assessment will be analysed and a full comprehensive written report with a list of recommendations and suggestions will be sent within 5 - 15 working days.
Suggestions and Recommendations
These assessments are very comprehensive and the psychologist should be able to make a diagnosis of Dyslexia, Dyscalculia or other Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD). Whatever the history of the difficulties, a suitable remedial programme will be essential if the student is to benefit from his or her education. The educational psychologist will describe a special programme; this will include recommendations and suggestions for your coursework and/or examinations that may enable you to have:
• Extra time (up to 25%)
• A Reader, to read out the questions
• The use of an amanuensis (person to take down your work)
• The use of a word processor
• To use Voice Recognition Software
• Or other arrangements.
The psychologists we use are fully qualified, chartered, independent professionals with a great deal of experience of Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD).
