A list of schools for dyslexics

Filter by county:

Calder House School

We are a specialist DAY school in a rural setting within easy reach of junction 17 on the M4. As past parents testify, we have successfully taught many Swindon pupils who as young as 6 have coped comfortably with the journey. Pupils say we are the "best school ever!" Calder House is registered as SP (whole school provision) by CReSTeD, and has s[special approval from the DfES. Pupils between the ages of 5-13 years are: taught by specialist teachers in small classes, given a truly personalised remedial program, empowered to access the full National Curriculum, prepared for return to mainstream education within a two-three year time frame. We assess for entry, taking only pupils who are currently underachieving in mainstream education, and whose educational needs match our teaching skills. We publish our results which speak for themselves. In the words of a former pupil we are "A very Special Placeā€. If you would like to know more visit our web site-or contact the school secretary Kathy Hone to arrange to visit.

Moon Hall School

Moon Hall School for Dyslexic children is situated mid-way between Dorking and Guildford in Surrey. Foundedin 1985, we moved to the beautiful grounds of Belmont Preparatory. School in 1989. Moon Hill School nd Belmont School remain separate registered charities, each with its own Head and Broad of Governors. In many repects, however, we function as one entity-with resultant advantages for our children. Our specially-constructed school building houses 56 full-time pupils in NC Year 3-6. We also cater for Year 6-8, based in Belmont, who return for ongoing small group English tuition plus Maths, if necessary. One-to-one supprt is available for mildly dyslexic children within Prepartory School. Pupils make speedy and measurable progress taught by our dedicated specialist staff. In groups of no more than seven, they benefit from our excellent resources and ICT facilities. At Break, for all sport and cross-site Drama Productions, they interact with their peers at Belmont (where our children are also able to board). A personal visit is essential to appreciate our unique facilities and to meet our children and teachers. Meanwhile, our most recent OFSTED and CReSTeD repiorts can be accessed from the Moon Hall Website.
