BAHons English; Dip.Psych; PGCE (English and SEN); Phono-Graphix; A.R.R.O.W; MathsProg.Cert.DysInst; OCR SpLD + Diagnostic.Ass UCL; Cert.Adult.Dyslexia.Support.Southbank Uni Up to date CRB certificate *************************************** Living in North London has afforded me opportunities to work in its primary and secondary schools, FE colleges and universities as a tutor and an assessor in the 14 years since I qualified as an OCR dyslexia/dyspraxia tutor. I am an experienced, qualified teacher with a degree in English and a conversion degree in Psychology. I teach dyslexics simple voice-based techniques which improve dyslexic performance and I adapt the traditional teaching programmes, sometimes using computer software and/or coloured overlays to enhance the learning process (coloured overlays can transform learning for many). Many of my dyspraxic students have benefitted from a similar programme. I get equal job satisfaction from working on a dissertation with a student to teaching reading skills to the under-10s. My background as an English teacher enables me to pitch work at a good level and to break tasks down into organisational, as well as literacy skills. I offer specialised teaching for all ages and levels: revision skills, exam technique, mind mapping, note-making, colour-coding, organisational skills, understanding dyslexia, essay writing. My dyslexic students have yet to graduate with less than a 2:1 while my under-10s can all read at least at the same level as their chronological age. I can email out a scan or any or all documentation on request. I normally charge £35 an hour. I always see a certain number of concessions per term in addition - normally £25.
